I have installed the current NDAS from source on Debian Lenny.
I followed the installation instructions from the tutorial.
I saw an error something like the one you posted, so I did have to reboot. That is also written in the tutorial though.

    * Note: If you get an error after the third line about it not finding ndas, restart your machine and try again
    * Note: You don't need to run m-a prepare again when reinstalling NDAS package later.
    * as of 2008-12-20 if you are running on 2.6.27 kernel (Ubuntu 8.10) you may need a patch #839
    * For Ubuntu 9.04 on 2.6.28 kernel, download and apply the patch for the 2.6.27 kernel, and then the patch for the 2.6.28 kernel, before you start to install the package.


My system is totally just downloaded by the stable repository and I had received a kernel update from there automatically a few days before. So I think this is a "works for me" ticket.

I noticed your kernel version was 2.6.26-1-686 but mine ..26-2-686. It probably makes no difference.
